The Museum is temporarily closed for renovations.

SEN learning

We offer tailored workshops for children with Special Educational Needs and Special Schools.

Normally we can visit your school with a suitcase of Second World War objects, or you can visit us. All staff have been trained to engage with children with Special Educational Needs. Workshops are varied and adaptable to suit different learning styles.

Unfortunately schools can’t visit at the moment (due to COVID-19 restrictions), but we offer free craft packs, loan boxes, virtual workshops, and online learning resources.

We hope to resume workshops in the museum and outreach visits soon. As a charity we're pleased to offer a Travel Grant of up to £100 per school to assist with transport costs to the museum when visits can resume. Download the travel grant here.

AccessAble provides the detailed information you need to work out if NIWM is going to be accessible to you. We know everyone’s accessibility needs are different, which is why having detailed, accurate information is so important.

It contains facts, figures and photographs as well as a detailed access guide about our venues access. Please let us know if there are any reasonable adjustments we can make for your visit.
