The Museum is temporarily closed for renovations.

Primary learning

Our free workshops and resources provide learning experiences which are fun, engaging, and linked to our collection.

We tell the story of life on the Home Front in Northern Ireland during the Second World War with experiences suitable for Key Stages 1 and 2.

Workshops and resources support and enhance the NI Curriculum and all museum staff have been trained to support children with Special Educational Needs. Workshops are varied, hands-on, and adaptable to suit different learning styles.

Schools can’t visit at the moment (due to COVID-19 restrictions), but we offer free craft packs, loan boxes, virtual workshops, and online learning resources.

We hope to resume workshops in the museum and outreach visits soon. As a charity we're pleased to offer a Travel Grant of up to £100 per school to assist with transport costs to the museum when visits resume. Download the travel grant here.

Loan Boxes

There’s so much to learn about Northern Ireland during the Second World War. Sometimes you need to feel it, see it, smell it, hear it and touch it!

Our loan boxes promote curiosity and provide a hands-on approach to learning with objects based on real pieces from the museum collection.
